Abstract:
This work presents the proposal of a computer based energy meter calibration system. A MC68HC11 microcontroller based data acquisition board compatible with the IBM-PC bus is used. The system allows the calibartion of watt-hour meter, employing either the comparison method based on a reference standard or the time and power method. The design and implementation considerations for low cost software and hardware for plug-in boards to be used as an environment for the development of microcontroller based applications, are presented and discussed. This development environment is centred around an IBM-PC compatible microcomputer and a microcontroller based plug-in board. The communication between the IBM-PC and the plug-in board is through a common shared memory. Two configurations for plug-in boards are also presented.
