Resumo:
This thesis proposes a structural analysis of the Children and youth work, Emilia in the
country Grammar (1934), Monteiro Lobato (1882-1948), from the perspective of language
and literature in relation textual construction. It is proposed specifically to study such work,
paying attention to the shape of the Children and Youth genre, its inherent characteristics and,
based on Coelho (2000) identify the literary field and its structural factors that most often go
unnoticed by the work readers. Presents assumptions about language and literature when
viewed from the perspective of language in isolation. Shows the origin of Children and Youth
Literature in Europe and Brazil, the life and work of Monteiro Lobato and his concern for the
independence and originality of the Brazilian language. The work has as theoretical basis the
study Lajolo and Zilberman (2007), Palo and Oliveira (2006), Azevedo (2012), and Smith
(2001), Costa (2007), among others.
