Abstract:
This paper highlights the importance of working with the genre seminar, in order that
it is a genre that involves, in its production, the oral and writing abilities, but also the
student's experience of the world. In this perspective, the study aims to understand
how the seminar genre is worked from the literacy practices. For this reason, we
highlighted the contributions of Textual Linguistics and oral and written texts, in
particular the argumentative text, when presenting the seminar genre, worked in the
perspective of the student's literacy and social practices, and an experience report
about our own practice in PIBID. As a theoretical contribution, we focused, specially,
on studies by Koch (2015), Marcuschi (2007, 2008, 2010), Citelli (1994), Vieira
(2007), Soares (2012) and Kleiman (2007), among others. As the methodological
procedure, it is a bibliographical research, of qualitative character, for wanting to
understand how the construction of the textual genre seminar occurs, in the
perspective of the practices of literacy. The research carried out in this work is the
result of a concern that arose from our experience at PIBID/UFCG, in the Letras–
Portuguese Language subproject, in a class of EJA Fundamental II, in the year 2017.
In this experience, we perceived the great difficulty that students have in develop the
oral genres, therefore, the option to build the seminar genre from the practices of
literacy. The results were satisfactory, since some difficulties were solved and the
students' performance improved considerably.
