This work aimed to understand the meanings that CAPS health professionals assign to nutritional care under the integrality perspective. It is about a descriptive study with a qualitative approach that had the participating of 5 professionals that answered a semi-structured questionnaire wherein 4 of them were women and 1 was a man. The dates have been analyzed through content analysis technique that has proposed by Bardin. The research results could demonstrate that the health professionals impute a great importance to nutritionist work at CAPS. All participants have related such a preoccupation with nutritional status and search for solutions to reduce the problem at hand. The professionals also reported they try to offer services according to users’ needs and the most important services are workshops, specific care and reception. About the planning of the services they use some strategies like meetings and case discussions. With respect to nutritional assistance, the group of participants commented their concern and interest about that factor despite they don’t have a nutritionist to guide them about food issues. It was also reported even without the presence of a nutritionist, they try to offer a nutritional assistance through preparation of menus that are made by the professionals in addition to family participation and other operations. As for the connection between nutritional attention and comprehensive health care, some professionals commented the importance of networking and the need of a nutritionist at CAPS. Regarding to nutritional attention benefits for people with mental illness was mentioned the need for a nutritionist at CAPS, a balanced diet, strengthen the team, among others factors. We have noticed, however, that sometimes the nutritionist is still considered as a professional that only treat diseases and someone who is not facing health promotion and illness prevention. These results were discussed using as basis theoretical contributions and relevant empirical studies.
