Abstract:
Poetry, and the importance it has, should be rethought and treated as an effective tool in the construction of knowledge. However, the reality of teaching shows that we are increasingly distant from the poetic texts. We realized that between literary genres worked in school, poetry is at the top of the marginalized. This gap between poetry and the classroom is due to a number of historical mistakes made in the rare attempts by schools to work with the poetic. Furthermore, it should be, in general, the reading of the crisis we are experiencing contemporaneously, a crisis that prioritizes quick texts and emergencies readings. Meanwhile, poetry is disregarded, since it requires its readers the intellectual commitment to thinking and emotional act of feeling. In the restlessness of trying to understand the gap between poetry and classroom, it is that this work takes shape in order to reflect on the importance and efficacy of poetry in the classroom, as a tool for formation of critical readers. Therefore, it was necessary, make some theoretical contributions of qualitative approach, subsidized by the theme of scholars in question, such as: Candido (2010), Eliot (1991), Martins (1986) and Pinheiro (1995). After a literature review, we prepared a proposal for activity aimed at children in early grades, specifically the 5th year of primary school, which had as object of activity the music CD "My Backyard" of paraibanos artists Nara Limeira and Naldinho Braga. The results of this study allowed us to demonstrate the efficacy in practice in reading classroom achieved by the dimensional role of poetry, and thus be more than proven opening poetry text beyond the surface structures of a read, since like no other genre, poetry reaches many cultural events, among them, the music which, in relation to poetry, approaching playfully her students.
