Résumé:
Much has been discussed about the advantages and disadvantages to increase to the English
language teaching cultural aspects. No doubt, the cultural issue is configured as an enriching
item to the learning process of a foreign language. Studies conducted by many scholars such
as Brown (2001), Kramsch (1993) and others, point out that language and culture are
intrinsically linked, since that language expresses the thoughts the way of individuals to see
the world, as well as their values, beliefs and attitudes. In this context, the objective of this
paper is to analyze how and what cultural aspects are approached in English language
textbooks of the high School in Public Schools, in order to establish the importance of the
culture in the teaching-learning process of a foreign language. Besides that, it will be
presented the relevance to integrate the teaching of languages the cultural component. For
this, it will be used the theoretical support the contributions of Kramsch (1993; 1998; 2012),
Moran (2001), Brown (2001), among other scholars in the area. Thus, this paper consists in a
bibliography study, based on the state of the art on the theme.
