Abstract:
The present work consists in the improvement of an electrochemical system for the production of hydrogen and oxygen gases from a bipolar water electrolyser, through the passage of electric current, for cutting and welding of metals. The system under study is an oxyhydrogen welder built by the FORZA industry, named "Aqcua Solda". This machine features high quality welds on non-ferrous metals, however for iron containing materials good quality welds are not obtained. The improvement was made by injecting oxygen into the machine to improve the quality of ferrous metal welding; Through metallographic analysis and mechanical resistance tests, the best percentages of injected oxygen were surveyed.
