Inappropriate accommodation garbage is a problem of extreme importance, since it is associated with the development of various health problems. Thus, the garbage collection service is a key item and essential to maintain cleanliness and hygiene of public areas, and a means of preventing the onset of diseases. Workers responsible for this collection are designated as Garis, and work directly with the trash, end up suffering some prejudice from society due to negative assigned to your job object. This study aimed to evaluate the nutritional status and health conditions of street sweepers in the city of Cuité-PB. The participants were 31 individuals of both genders. The instrument used for data collection was a standardized questionnaire specifically designed for such work and based on the National Health Survey, conducted by the IBGE, to analyze living conditions and health also were conducted anthropometric measurements such as weight , height, waist circumference and hip measurement of skinfolds, to analyze the nutritional status, and measuring blood pressure was taken. Statistical analysis of data was performed using the SPSS for Windows version 13.0.Dentre the interviewees, it was found that 77.4% said they did not find it difficult to have access to care in the Basic Health Unit, and 9.7% reported having had medical diagnosis of blood pressure and diabetes, and 29.0% of high cholesterol. As also noted that according to the anthropometric data, more than half of the participants 61.3% are with Overweight and Obesity, which with respect to the index waist / hip ratio (WHR), 51.6% are at risk for the development of cardiovascular disease and 67.8% of these workers are with the percentage of fat above that would be appropriate. The results show that such employees are having access to health services, but that the nutritional status of these deserves special attention, since overweight and obesity are associated with the risk of developing chronic diseases, which can interfere future directly on the health of these and consequently the productivity in the development of its activities in the workplace.
