Resumen:
This research aims to propose the use of literary texts as an efficient tool in English language
teaching showing that they may be applied to the four linguistic skills in the learning of such a
language (listening, speaking, reading and writing), and that it may help students in their
learning, avoiding that classes be limited to grammatical rules and memorization of words or
sentences only. To fulfill this work it has been selected an adaptation of The Picture of
Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (2005), MacMillan Publisher because it has an elementary level
and it has activities which may be worked in the last year of primary school. Texts by Zenti
(2001), Mota (2010), Silva (2011), Yamakawa (2013), Salazar (2015) and others were used as
theoretical support.
