Résumé:
This work aims to analyze the possibility of dialogues between History and Literature
as a pedagogical resource in Teaching History, specifically from the work The
Mulatto by Aluísio Azevedo. It is understood that the approximation of History and
Literature in the classroom, among other issues, is directly related to the concern
with the construction of a significant historical knowledge and quality. Thus, it is
considered important to discuss the use of literature as a historical source in the
classroom, expanding the concept of historical source and pedagogical language,
stimulating the diversification of the work of the teacher. In our specific case, we
analyze the novel O Mulatto, by Aluísio Azevedo, as a possibility to discuss racial
relations in County Galway in the second half of the 19th century. In addition to
working with the novel O Mulatto, we also used Areferential of Cultural History as a
historiographical tendency to guide the proposed and presented reflections, using
authors' perspectives such as CHARTIER (1990), RUIZ (2007), SILVA (1999) and
others.
