Abstract:
This research was based on conduct a study on the history textbook in elementary education:
perspectives and perceptions built by teachers Cajazeiras – PB. We aimed to analyze how
elementary school teachers perceive, treat, use the textbooks in their planning and
instruction books. To better understand this goal, the study initially provided the context of
the textbook in the history of Brazil with a brief presentation of the use of this material, from
the 1930s to the present day. Following promoted to highlight multiple searches on the
textbook discussing their place of production and the main problems of their usage. This
discussion has prepared us to explore a reflection on the perspectives and perceptions of
teachers in research. For this, we turn to literature and field research as sources for this data
analysis performed from semi-structured interviews conducted with teachers from two
schools. We seek also discuss how these educators understand and use textbooks in their
planning of lessons in the school routine. Therefore, to understand how these teachers think
this much-discussed feature, which is the textbook, allowed us to understand the
continuities, ruptures and appropriations that are the same in their school practice.
