Abstract:
The last few years, the concept of discursive/textual genres has become very investigated by
theoretical linguists, in view of its relevance to study and of the teaching and learning of the
Portuguese language as interactive activities. In this perspective, the present work has sought
to analyse how the Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (PCNs) of the Portuguese Language for
the third and forth cycles of the Elementary School deal the issue of the genres, has as the
greatest objective to highlight the contributions and showed gap, regarding to document, as
regards the such approach. Therefore, we choose to take as methodological theoretical basis
the concept of discursives genre and the bibliographic research supporting us in the authors
such as: Bakhtin (2003), Bronckart (2012), Koch (2004), Marcuschi (2011), Soares (2004),
among others. Face of the study conducted, we realized that the PCNs, when address genres,
present relevant guidelines to the Portuguese Language Teaching, in order to the teachers
develop, in the classroom, the communicative competence of the students. However, we also
noted that the document leaves gaps in some of the proposal aspects, for this reason it is
necessary that teachers, mainly, who did not a recently formation, seek another means, others
resources to update the pedagogical didactic and, how know with genres to teach Portuguese
Language.
