Resumo:
The objective of this work is to contribute to the study of the book of poems Eu (1912), by
Augusto dos Anjos, focusing on two of its sonnets, in an integrative perspective that
contemplates form and content as inseparable elements. From the reading of important
authors of the poet's criticism, we observed that almost none of them stock to an examination
of this poetry in which a better advantage of formal and content elements integration is taken.
Formal elements such as rhythm, rhyme, alliterations, and assonances, among many other
aspects of a sonorous nature that play a prominent role in dos Anjos’ poems, were largely
ignored by them, thus precluding, according to our point of view, a more complete
understanding of the work. So from this problem, we analyze, as said, two sonnets from Eu,
namely, "Solitário" and "Martírio do Artista", in order to explore the two levels that integrate
them - both sonorous and semantic. For this, we adopt as a methodology a qualitative
research (in relation to type), basic (with respect to nature), exploratory (with regard to the
objectives) and bibliographic (as to procedures) that considers as a theoretical basis the
presuppositions of Bilac and Passos (1956), Candido (2006), Freire (1987), Friedrich (1978),
Goldstein (2001), Proença (1980), Viana (1994), among others.
