Abstract:
This paper discusses various methods used in the laboratory for extraction and study of meiofauna, more precisely the continental meiofaunais organisms (freshwater), given that different methodologies are usually transmitted advisor to student in the laboratory itself ends, informally and orally. However, the literature cites different methods specifically for marine environments. Therefore, for this work were adapted some methodologies for freshwater animal’s extraction such as: Screening Method (adapted), Elutriation method, Flotation Method in Sucrose solution and Flotation Method Magnesium Solution, aiming to extract the greatest possible number of organisms. We collected 15 sedimentary samples at a single point in the dam Alligator, located the margins of BR-104, in the municipality of San Remigio - PB in the state of West Curimataú, 157 km from the city João Pessoa, PB. Data collection was conducted in October 2014. It is expected that these analyzes as a basis and raise the number of future work and research groups in freshwater environments. Considering that the scientific literature is very lacking in work in the regions where the effect of the absence of rain is a strong socio-economic burden and even subsistence of the population.
