Abstract

This paper deals with the formation of the Portuguese lexicon recalling the many transformations suffered by language considering the processes of change until it reaches what is called today of Portuguese Language. The internal and external factors will be considered as historical, social and political issues, so it is extremely important to highlight the strong influence that Latin America caused the formation of the Portuguese lexicon, taking into account the observed today, since it was from it that Portuguese originated. The paper proposes a A study that discusses the direct and indirect influence of vulgar Latin on lexicon formation from the etymological and semantic point of view that even forgotten or not known to speakers are responsible for the lexicon currently used.
