Resumo:
The present monograph has as main objective to analyze the teaching of geography in the years
initials of elementary school I, 1st and 2nd year specifically, from the city of São João do Rio
Peixe-PB, based on the idea of geographic literacy, with emphasis on teaching the category
place. Geography teaching has been important since the early years of school education,
through it, the student will develop the ability to understand and understand space,
thus being able to act critically and engaged within its context. To reach the goal
proposed here the methodology was based on bibliographical research for theoretical discussion
