Resumo:
Whales are animals aquatic habitat. They occur in all oceans. It is necessary to study these animals, to know how they behave - their ecology - and in this way we can preserve both their natural habitat as own kind. The theme whales is little used in textbooks. Thus this study aims to work the subject of threats to whales fauna along the Brazilian coast with students of the Escola Estadual de Ensino Funadamental e Médio José de Oliveira Rolderick the city of Nova Floresta-PB, with emphasis on the protection of these marine animals. The study was conducted in three distinct stages with the first, a survey of students' prior knowledge by questionnaire, to identify the interests and possible gaps, the experience of the lectures and the rescue of knowledge through a questionnaire. The information obtained from the results showed that the participants had little or no knowledge about the whales and the impacts these animals. And then the cycle of talks held with the two groups, it was found that the content presented was accepted positively by students. So the work done with students promoted awareness of the preservation and conservation of whales.
