Abstract:
Paleontology is the science responsible for studying the remains and fossil traces and covers knowledge related to geological earth time and the evolution of living beings. However, matters relating to this science are addressed in greatly reduced way to schools, associated with the development of content in the disciplines of science and biology, they being studied only with the aid of the textbook. From this context, this work has been discussed to reinforce the importance of using different resources and teaching strategies that help in addressing paleontological concepts and stimulate student interest. This study was conducted with students from the Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA), in State School Professor Terezinha Carolino de Souza in Jaçanã-RN, in order to highlight the importance of Paleontology theme approach in EJA, since this receives little attention in this type of education. The methodological procedures of this study were developed in four stages: Application of a form, lectures, practical classes and applying a second form. After the activities completed observed how the approach to the subject Paleontology is scarce in the Educação de Jovens e Adultos, considering that most students have no knowledge of this science, it can be seen that the practical classes make it easy enough the students' understanding of paleontological content. It was noticed as well, the need for activities that provide the disclosure of paleontological content in basic education, including EJA
