Résumé:
Environmental education consists in reflections and practices about the individuals’ role in relation to the environment in which they live. So, this education is seem as a possible redeeming among many environmental problems faced by the current society. This paper describes and analyzes a didactic sequence with students in a 5th grade class about the types of solid waste and their implications on the environment and society in general. In the activities we opted for the interconnection of theory and practice, in an interdisciplinary perspective intertwining scientific knowledge and art as methodological approach for knowledge building. The results bring to the discussion the importance of stimulating the collective work, social participation, affective development in the school context and encouraging the development of artistic skills. This paper also points out possibilities to the school community participation around environment themes.
