This paper aims to discuss the use of film, while teaching methodology in geography lessons.
To do so, initially undertook a discussion of the origin of cinema to its use as a
methodological resource in the classroom. Later discussion will bring in a brief analysis about
geography as a school subject, discussing the difficulties that the geography faced to reach
your goal as a science. Knowing that geography in the course of his career as a science and
made several changes along its route broke paradigms and reformulated its traditional
character for Renewed. Bypassing these difficulties in that geography was ruled as a
descriptive discipline and memorization, in which the notion of geographical knowledge was
passed on to students in a piecemeal fashion, where only the educator was known holder
students and simple receivers of information, we will bring in analysis in this study the
documentary Island of flowers, as a methodological approach to be used in the classroom,
making a match between the same and geography teaching, and still developing issues
revolving makes the society in which we live, society is in overall disparity. Thus we see in
the cinema a language full of elements that reproduce social discourse station, for a given
time, is not a reality in itself, but brings with elements that diffuse a geographic imaginary.
We chose therefore to act in a perspective of change to a teaching of Geography.
