Resumen:
The treatment of mental disorders has undergone several changes with the psychiatric reform which contributed to the creation of Centers for Psychosocial Care (CAPS), which revolutionized the management of psychiatric patients, providing a rational and effective drug therapy, less suffering for the patient, as well as the inclusion of family in treatment. Psychiatric disorders have differences in their symptomatology, requiring an elaborate and effective treatment, it can be executed by pharmacotherapy only or linked to psychotherapy. Among the classes of drugs most used for this purpose can cite BDZ drugs. Their use is linked to the fact that these states relieve stress and tension caused by anxiety, as well as their hypnotic and sedative effects. In recent years, it has been noticed an intense use of these drugs, it can be linked to irrational prescribing which feeds back a possible tolerance and dependence on them. Cuité is located in Curimataú of Paraiba, its population is 19,978. In this town works CAPS I, with a demand of 533 users, 55 of these are part of the semi-intensive care and 478 belong to non-intensive mode. The present study describes the profile of pharmacotherapeutic use of benzodiazepines in this institution. Is methodologically anchored in a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study was performed with analysis of records showed that prescription of BDZ in the period 2011-2013 as well as structured interviews with patients in non-intensive care interviews were conducted, currently seen at CAPS. This is a study with humans, so it has met the Resolution 466/12, being submitted to the Research Ethics Committee of the HUAC and after approval, proceeded according to the availability of patients and center professionals in the study, during the months from March to June 2014. The study sample is composed mostly of women, and these corresponded, respectively, to 70.8% of respondents and 71.4% of the records analyzed. The prevalence of individuals with more than 60 years (25.0% of respondents and 27.9% of records) was also observed. The most prevalent disorders were neurotic disorders (26% of respondents and 49.3% of records) linked to this result greater prescription clonazepam (61.5% of respondents and 46.8% of records) was observed, either alone or in combination with other medications for the maintenance of psychotherapy, making the average number of medicines per patient corresponded to the respondents approximately 2,6 and 2,0 in the files. Patients who are still bound in the treatment showed a high adherence, due to the lower percentage of interruptions (41.7%), and also reported the presence of other concomitant diseases to mental disorder (37.5%) and 62.5% said self-medicate. This study allowed for a contribution of relevant information on the use of BDZ in CAPS Cuité and showed extremely important because such studies give subsidies and promoting the rational use of this class of medicines in the town.
