Resumen:
The urban environment is distinguishes the numerous differences with the natural
environment, especially the growing process of urbanization that has caused significant
changes in biodiversity and thereby caused global problems such as increasing temperature in
urban centers. For this reason, it is essential to the vegetation in the cities in an attempt to
alleviate this temperature, especially in semi-arid regions. The city of Cajazeiras-PB, like
most Brazilian cities, is expanding in a disorderly way and biodiversity is increasingly cut off.
The city has high temperatures and vegetation can reduce the problem of focus of heat. Based
on these considerations, this study aims to investigate the practices and population values with
plant biodiversity in the city of Cajazeiras- PB. Therefore, we used as a methodology to
qualitative and quantitative research, exploratory and descriptive, based on field of study, and
as research tool photography and questionnaires. It was found that the city of Cajazeiras- PB
has little plant biodiversity in urban areas; that mostcultivated speciesare exoticto in detriment
ofnative andthatdespite the lowvegetable biodiversitypopulationhas positivevalues aboutthe
same.
