Abstract:
This work aims to discuss and analyze the teaching-learning process concerning the
Geography teaching in the 3rd grade “A” of the State High School Mayor Joaquim Lacerda
Leite, located in the town of São José de Piranhas-PB. In order to carry this study out, we
developed a discussion about the school historical trajectory of Geography, dealing with some
permanences and changes found in the 21
st
century. After that, a critical survey was carried
out on teachers training, bringing us some obstacles and challenges concerning training.
Finally, we highlighted the importance of a methodological proposal focused on the
educational and social needs of the students. To illustrate this, the communication and
information technologies offer criteria that boost the teaching-learning process. To produce
this research, we use the qualitative method, being established through interviews,
questionnaires and observations carried out in the classroom. In addition, we have done a
bibliographical analysis, with support in some authors such as: Andrade (2005); Brzezinski
(1994); Castellar (2010); Castrogiovanni (1998); Libâneo (2008); Pessoa (2007); Pontuschka
(2009) among others. Therefore, we obtained as a result of this research, a concern that comes
from a bit investment given to education, as well as an endorsement given to Geography
teaching. However, in spite of the teachers do not have many resources, they remain doing
effort to innovate and improve their methodologies, having in mind the appropriate learning
and building knowledge.
