In this work, a filter (compensator) to correct the secondary voltage waveform of a coupling capacitor voltage transforms (CCVT) is presented. This filter is implemented in RTDSTM (Real Time Digital Simulator). The filter parameters are obtained from a precise CCVT
model, a method to obtain the CCVT linear parameters (R, L e C) and the CCVT transformation ratio. If the filter is used, it is possible to reproduce correctly the CCVT primary voltage waveform, even if disturbances such as faults and harmonic distortion. Some
case studies are presented to address the effectiveness of the compensator. Fault simulations, harmonic distortion in the primary voltage waveform and a preliminary study to determine the effect of the compensator on phasor estimation algorithms, are carried out. The corrected CCVT secondary voltage leads to a more realistic estimation of the primary voltage waveform.
