In this work, computational simulation is used for and, for this purpose, suitable modeling of PMSG-based WECS, converters and grid are carried out. These models are integrated in MATLAB/Simulink resulting in a complete system that can provide realistic results. Tests for
analyzes referred above were done for PMSG with conventional PI control and a proposed predictive control. The proposed control goals are maximizing WECS power income from the available wind power and to enlarge their ride through default capability during grid faults. Results are compared and predictive control showed a similar dynamic performance to PI control, however, presenting easer implementation and controller effort reduction possibility.
