Resumen:
Cancer is a collection of various types of diseases that have in common the uncontrolled growth of the cells, leading to the invasion of tissues and organs. Its causes can be external or internal to the body. The cancer is described as a public health problem that affects the entire world, thus including children and adolescents. The diagnosis of cancer in adolescents becomes one of the most stressful moments for the same, developing them, feelings of anxiety, doubt and fear by the probability of dying. Beyond these psychological implications , cancer is also responsible for a range of physical symptoms, where the pain is considered one of the most devastating cancer behind much suffering , and with so many symptoms that it causes , can highlight cancer pain as the most devastating symptom. Given this reality, the present study is an exploratory , descriptive and quantitative study aimed to investigate the perceptions of adolescents diagnosed with cancer about pain and identify the care that they receive for control decrease this symptom as disturbing . The sample was composed by through eight interviews conducted with adolescents diagnosed with different malignancies at the University Hospital of Paraíba, in the period d between January and February 2014. The data collected through the interviews and the analysis of each chart were divided into five stages according to the order and characterization, where they have been demonstrated through graphs using Microsoft Excel 2007. In this work, we realize that the male gender is the hardest hit, with 75 % being the most prevalent age group AGES 12 to 14 years (75%). The FOI Leukemia neoplasms with the highest prevalence at 62.5 %, mainly in males; conic pain was the most prevalent, represented by 62.5 % , mainly in the lower limbs . The change in daily life that most affects teens school absenteeism is the absence in school and most teenagers describes the pain as a feeling of sadness.
