Abstract:
Violence against women is witnessed daily in all spheres of society in emanifesta different ways: sexually, physically and psychologically. Nurses play an important role in their approach, the essence that the science of caring assigned to it. However, limitations to deal with the woman in this vulnerable condition causes the professional to act only within their professional context and the biomedical paradigm are rulers in their practices, making the treatment oriented merely on symptomatic issues. This study aimed to understand the perception of students of the tenth period of Nursing course, Federal University of Campina Grande (Campus Cuité) about violence against women. This is a descriptive study from the perspective of qualitative approach that included the participation of undergraduate students of Nursing who answered a semi-structured questionnaire that revolved on the issue of violence against women. Data were analyzed using the technique of content analysis proposed by Bardin. The main results showed that the students have a broad view about violence against women, and causes and factors related to this phenomenon. Students mentioned the addiction, gender issues and jealousy as the causes of the violence. Regarding academic training related to the topic, most scholars consider that the topic has been addressed insufficiently. When asked how one should take care of the victim, participants mentioned the psychological support, counseling/routing and technical Nursing care as needed for good care to women victims of violence. Were then discussed and analyzed based on the theoretical framework and relevant empirical studies.
