Several plant species have been used for therapeutic purposes by traditional communities, contributing to the advancement of Brazilian medicine. The popular use of medicinal plants is a well-known and widely disseminated throughout the country practice. The use of medicinal plants has spread worldwide, currently its use is common, regardless of social class, since they provide better quality of life, because of the herbal properties, as well as homeopathic, allopathic and pharmacological. Treatment with medicinal plants is a secular tradition, associated with historical accounts and maintained in the population through healers, healers, faith healers. The marketing of medicinal plants by healers and the healing arts of the same, is a very ancient practice, and has existed since ancient times, currently has stood at easy access, low cost and proven effectiveness. In this study, we evaluated the recommended medicinal plants by the healers of the municipality of Cuité-PB for respiratory tract infections. To conduct this study, 8 healers were interviewed, and made an investigation of these indications active, about the most recommended for infections such plants, and compared with the literature. Of the total recommended for the treatment of respiratory tract (10) plant diseases, we selected a representative four medicinal plants alluded more by salespeople. As a result it was investigated that in 100 % of recommended therapeutic indication by salespeople plants, are in accordance with the instructions contained in the scientific literature, concluding that the directions issued by these professionals are quite helpful in fighting diseases.
