Abstract:
The epidemiological panorama of Sexually Transmitted Infections of Brazil over the
course of time has presented feminization, pauperization and internalization. Thus, the
female population is an explicit target. However, surveys of lesbian women in the
country indicate that they tend to seek health services less frequently than heterosexual
patients. The analysis seeks to show through the found literature the factors that make it
difficult to screen and prevent STIs with a focus on this group, also verifying the
effectiveness of public policies, professional conduct and conceptions that influence the
search for the service. The study shows that in the context of women's health there are
few changes from the last century to the present, still predominating the reductionist
view of women associated with lack of preparation, attendance difficulties, belief in
myths, failures in education policies and processes, and care. Therefore, it is intended to
generate a reflection about the thematic and of these factors found as obstacles and from
then on, offer subsidies that can contribute to improvements and organization of
prevention actions in the field of sexual health of lesbians and bisexuals for a
humanized care in public health services.
