Resumen:
In the present study he glimpses the history of cinema from its origin and how it
happened in Cajazeiras, a city in the interior of the State of Paraíba. This time, the
objective was to trace the historical journey of the cinemas, emphasizing the rescue
of the history and memories of the cinemas in the city of Cajazeiras and the factors
that contributed to the closing of its doors and that make unfeasible the reopening or
opening of a new cinema in the city. Already with the specific objectives it was
glimpsed to describe the origin of the cinema at international, national level and in the
municipality of Cajazeiras-PB; to reflect on the historical trajectory of cinema in the
city of Cajazeiras-PB and, finally, to identify the factors that contributed to the closure
of the three cinemas in the municipality of Cajazeiras, as well as those that make
unfeasible the opening of a new cinema or reopening of the in the conception of its
owners to the time and of other important personages of the culture and the
cajazeirense commerce. The methodology adopted was a descriptive and
exploratory bibliographical study with a qualitative approach and a structured
interview with some personalities linked to the cinema, among them an administrator,
a son of an administrator, a film helper, a historian and a radio broadcaster. The
choice of the last two was due to its relations with the history of the city. According to
the findings, from the information collected, the arrival of television in homes and
public squares, the drought area, mainly in the northeastern region of Brazil, the
financial crisis experienced in certain moments by the country, were preponderant so
that the cinemas in Cajazeiras closed their doors. But the experiences acquired with
the cinemas represent for the local population a magical moment, immeasurable
experiences and are present in the memory of those who could enjoy the
cinematography while it existed in the city.
