Abstract:
The daily life of the mother experiencing HIV / AIDS is dominated by questions, doubts and uncertainties, as worries about disclosure, lives with the expectation as to the future of the child, if the child is HIV positive or not, if it survives the enough to care for the child or if this will be under the care of the family and can also suffer various situations permeated by prejudice and stigma. Given this backdrop, the objective of this research was to investigate the feelings that plague the context of women with positive serology for HIV about the breastfeeding process impediment. This is a qualitative research, conducted at the Specialized Service in Campina Grande-PB, during the month of July 2014, with the participation of six women who experienced the inability to breastfeed. From the content analysis, we constructed a broad category called "Feelings about the impossibility of HIV-positive mothers to breastfeed", which covered nine subcategories related to positive and negative emotions that this experience allowed the same. It is imperative to highlight that women who experienced the reverse of breastfeeding showed feelings of denial, sadness, anger, shame, frustration, envy and guilt, seeking resilience as a coping method for such difficulties. In this sense, it is worth mentioning that the mother of this monitoring by the healthcare team is necessary, since it can deviate behavior toward the child.
