Abstract:
This research aims to analyze how they were and are constructed and experienced gender
relations in the Rural Workers Union in the city of Uiraúna - PB, since its formation in 1972
until the present day. Following a social current historiography, to understand the history of
men and women through social movements (feminist and labor) that seethed from 1970, for
better living conditions, gender equality within these collective institutions and women's
invisibility in the trajectory trade unions, the paper discusses, through oral reports (interviews)
conducted with members who lived and actively participated in this organization and trade
union struggle, and analysis of internal documents (records of members, union status, the
minutes), as are drawn up, reworked and included gender relations. In this sense, analyzes the
limits, difficulties, conflicts and inequalities expressed by men and women within that
institution created to defend the rights of rural workers. The exercise of this work provides a
reflection on the recognition of the subject and their ability to transform social reality, and
discuss the trajectory of life of rural workers in the quest for recognition as a subject of law and
examine the role of gender in the construction and constitutions the SRT Uiraúna-PB.
