Resumen:
Hysterectomy is the consists of removal of the uterus, and is now considered the second most
frequently performed surgery in women of childbearing age. However, this procedure triggers
in women beyond the changes related to physiological factors, changes in your sex life,
emotional and social. This is due to the symbolic and cultural values generated on turning the
uterus. This study aimed to examine the conceptions and experiences of women who had
undergone hysterectomyand, how specific goal describe sexual and reproductive experiences
of these women, provide psycho-emotional responses of women before and after the
completion of hysterectomy and verify the perceptions of nursing care in women
hysterectomized. It is characterized by a study of exploratory and descriptive, with a
qualitative approach using a semi-structured questionnaire, which was responded orally,
however, transcribed handwritten by the researcher. The study took place in the areas covered
by the Basic Health Unit St. Joseph / PAPS in the city of Cajazeiras / PB. Participated in the
study 15 women who had undergone hysterectomy. Right after the interview, the data were
transcribed and analyzed following the proposal of the Collective Subject Discourse. Shortly

hysterectomy provides feelings of fear about loss of femininity, mobilizing feelings of
insecurity and fear, provoking emotional responses that affect the relationship with the partner
and family. Nevertheless that was seen after the procedure the majority of the interviewees
changed their perception in the face of hysterectomy, evaluating as a positive point in your
life. To conclude, in general, women's perceptions in front of hysterectomy were replaced
from their experiences, not harboring your thoughts and behaviors on the myths and taboos,
but the wellbeing reacquired after having experienced the surgical process.
