Resumo:
The humanization of health care provided to people that goes to hospital emergency rooms has been approached by the press and the users something discouraging. This study aimed to identify the understanding of nurses in relation to the humanization of care health in the urgency and emergency and point out the difficulties experienced by these professionals regarding the humanization of the service. This is an exploratory-descriptive study with qualitative approach. The research was conducted within the sector of Urgency and Emergence of a Regional Hospital in the state of Paraíba. The population studied was formed by nurses that work in the Urgency and Emergency sector of the institution. The sample included 12 professionals who responded a semi-structured interview. The data were analyzed using the technique of analysis of the Discourse of the Collective Subject proposed by Lefevre, Lefevre (2003). The results enabled to know the nurses' perception about the humanization and emerged the CI: humanize is to care holistically; recognizing the frailty of the client; identify priorities; adequately guide the client; qualify the assistance; approximate the professional and patient; recognize and attend the patient's needs; and act with resoluteness. In relation of the difficulties highlighted in the humanization of nursing care in the Urgency and Emergency services arose as CI: lack of interaction between the nurse team and professionals involved in health care; lack of time; excess of tasks; lack of systematization of nursing care; and excessive demand. We realized that nurses have an understanding on the subject, which may increasingly motivate actions that involve practices of humanized assistance in the service. This potential should be valorized and used by professionals and managers with the intention to improve the conditions of health care, labor and management.
