Resumo:
Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are still a major public health problem in Brazil and
worldwide. The Systemic Arterial Hypertension (HBP) is a multifactorial disease with high
incidence worldwide, more affected than males. This trend is proving increasingly evident
when examining the rates of hospital admissions. Objective: To investigate the frequency of
hospitalizations in hypertensive men in the State of Paraiba and Brazil. Method: Make a
comparative study between data of Paraiba -PB and analyze the year and race with the highest
incidence. Results: There was a gradual decline in the number of cases of hospital admissions
between the years 2008 to 2012 in Brazil and in Paraiba where the highest national level took
place in 2008 and lowest in 2012. It is an exploratory study, of epidemiological studies,
quantitative approach and descriptive analysis conducted on data from the department of
DATASUS. Results: There was a gradual decline in the number of cases of hospital
admissions between the years 2008 to 2012 in Brazil and Paraiba. The highest rate occurred in
2008 and lowest in 2012. Most often affected breed was the black / brown. The most affected
age group was 50-59 years. SAH is a serious public health problem and still raises many
hospitalizations. The SIS is an important and essential tool for health, but still fails. The FHT
is the foundation for an improvement in the health policies of the man.
