Resumo:
The settlements measurement in buildings is becoming an even more
common practice at Brazilian's civil construction scenery. Through this
measurement is possible to verify the foundation's global performance, allowing
this way, the analysis of the whole soil-structure interaction. It's importance has
been recognized and recommended by the NBR - 6122/1996 (foundation's
project and execution rules).
It's common practice in building's projects not to consider the effect of this
interaction, although many studies have showed its importance, as the
differentials settlements reduction, the redistribution of loading on the structure,
and the larger influence of the firsts floors in the settlements standardization. The
settlements measurement and the analysis of the soil-structure interaction make
possible, among other advantages, to supply foundations that would not be
possible in a conventional analysis, propitiating this way a decrease in the building
execution cost.
This work presents a study about the soil-structure interaction through
settlements measurement of three buildings situated in the coast of Joao Pessoa
city, which were controlled since the beginning of the construction. The main
points analyzed were: the evolution of settlements in the time and the soilstructure
interaction. It's was also realized a comparison, between the settlements
obtained through the measurement with the ones calculated through traditional
methods of settlement prevision.
The studies presented satisfactory results, which contributed to solidify the
importance and value gave to the settlements measurement and to the analysis of
the soil-structure interaction, like building's technological control and the
mechanism of damage and structural accidents prevision.
