Resumen:
The awareness of the finitude of life is a distinct element in humans. However, the loss
of loved ones is always reflected as pain, involving the completion of a job shutdown,
which is called mourning. Grief is a process of reconstruction, reorganization, and
challenging emotional and cognitive with which the subject has to deal. So losing
someone significant implies the need to adapt to live without her, when the mourning
happens, not only is the person who dies is lost, but the whole universe of the person
identified is destroyed. So, study the death is something that can help you work with
your constant presence, showing the need for health professionals to be familiar with
the subject since graduating with a view to a personal and professional preparation in
order to reduce stress and anxiety to discuss and live daily with these painful situations,
providing the elaboration and clarification of their concerns forward to the unknown, to
be able to maintain an interpersonal relationship and help the family at this time. In this
sense, the present study aimed to analyze the actions of nursing care to people who have
lost their loved ones. Participants were 10 nurses. It was used as an instrument of data
collection a script of semi-structured interview. The statements were made by the
technique of the Collective Subject Lefevre and Lefevre (2005). Collected materials
point to the relevance of the proposed topic, noting that professionals rated their care
positively within what is has to offer. It was also possible to observe the difficulty many
nurses have to talk about the irreversibility of death. Many do not assist the bereaved
family or summarize in a home visit, taking as an excuse the everyday tasks of the
occupation. It was also noticed that users only seek Health Unit in these situations to
requests referrals in extreme cases. There seems to be some lack of preparation on the
part of nurses to deal with their own feelings and emotions during those moments in the
community. With this research it became evident the need for changes both in
educational institutions and in work institutions in order to prepare students and
professionals for assistance in death, which is the essence of caring, both with people
who need to be helped at this stage of his life, and for their families.
