O cuidado a pessoa em sofrimento mental: sob a ótica dos familiares.

Abstract

The family, following the perspective of care in mental health based on the assumptions of the Psychiatric reform, has great influence on the care and support the user with mental disorder in this way, family / caregivers suffer psychological distress change in their lives, having to constantly adapt to new ways of conducting their day-to-day. This study aimed to know how to develop family care to individuals in psychological distress. The research is the exploratory-descriptive qualitative approach. For collection, an approach with participants was conducted through focus group, using guiding questions. The sample consisted of 20 family members / caregivers of users CAPS I - Cuité. Qualitative data were analyzed, taking as reference the method of content analysis categorical type theme. According to the guiding research questions and the speeches of the participants, the following related categories develops as family care to individuals in psychological distress were identified. Family perception. In Category I - Meaning of care; Category II-interference and coexistence with psychological distress; Category III - The overhead in the care of mental suffering; Category IV - Strategies for coping with adversity. It is considered that there are still gaps to be filled to effect a qualified these actors (users / caregivers-relatives) that, in fact, can empower these subjects and minimize their sufferings offer. For this purpose, it is necessary to recognize the different types of families, to encourage the strengthening the network of psychosocial care in the region, and that the bonds between family members and are grounded in a relationship of respect, where the uniqueness and individuality of all are preserved, so that family members / caregivers do not feel overwhelmed, and those with psychological distress can redeem their citizenship and autonomy.
