Atendimentos Pré - Hospitalares por causas externas: um estudo retrospectivo.

Abstract

The pre-hospital attendance is important to providing the first attendance before of the hospital environment, which also enlarges from the growing number of victims of external causes. Can be considered external causes, traumatisms, injuries or any other health disorders that are originated intentionally or not, sudden beginning and arising from violence and accidents. The study aims to characterize the pre-hospital attendances by external causes, in the municipality of Sousa – PB, by Mobile Attendance Service Unit (SAMU). To reach the goal we opted for a retrospective search of documentary and descriptive character, with a quantitative approach. Was performed on the basis of SAMU of Sousa – PB, through the registration sheets of pre-hospital care that occurred between January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013 filed by the authority above. The sample comprised 100% of the records of the attendance of victims of duly completed and signed by the paramedic team external causes. Data were collected through the collection of medical records and recorded on a script prepared by the researcher. The results revealed that in 1372 pre-hospital attendances were by external causes. Most of these the attendances was given to victims of land transport accidents, falls, physical assaults, exogenous intoxication and injury by firearms and white, were male in the age range of 20-39 years. As for deaths from external causes were recorded only 15, affecting mainly the victims of traffic accidents, and young adult men. The pre- hospital attendances by external causes were performed more frequently during the day shift, on the public highway using the USBs and sending the victims to the hospital, with uniform quantity during the months of occurrence. From the results obtained, there is a need to develop effective prevention measures for external causes in the city of Sousa – PB, as a guideline for behavior change to target audience, and rigorous accomplishment of the existing laws transit and criminal, so that there are a decrease in the prevalence of these events, reducing deaths and sequels, and increasing the average number of years lived by the population, in addition to reducing costs to society.
