Exposure to various occupational hazards in the Family Health Unit is favored by direct contact nurses have with the user in their work activities and may cause accidents or work-related diseases. This proximity of the professional as individuals, plus the handling contaminated material and the considerable amount of microorganisms present in the workspace, culminating in exposure to biological material, which is the most common type of risk among nurses. In this sense, the PPE must be the measure of precaution used to prevent and control the risk of accidents in the workplace. The overall objective of this study was to examine nurses' understanding, inserted in primary health care, about occupational risks and the specific objectives were; to obtain identification of nurses, with emphasis on their professional practice; ascertain the information provided by the nurses of the Family Health Units of the Family, about the occupational hazards ; identify possible risk factors for the occurrence of work accidents or work-related diseases of nurses from USF and present the results of this study to the nurses of USF in order to disseminate the results of research and promotion practices enhance the health of workers Nursing. This is an exploratory, descriptive nature with a qualitative approach, performed in Cuité, Paraíba and Jacana, Rio Grande do Norte, two cities in the Northeast region of Brazil. The population consisted of active nursing professionals in primary care and the sample was composed of five nurses City Cuité / PB and two of the city of Jacana / RN. It is concluded that the professional category of nurses has higher composition of females and most have evidence of specialization in Family Health. The nurses are the group of workers most likely to USF occupational hazards, they understand that these risks are inherent to its activities in USF and that may be aggravated by not using the PPE and the lack of it.
