Resumen:
Studies of faunal surveys are highly important so that it can learn about the local biodiversity, especially in areas considered as threatened such as Caatinga. The ‘Horto Florestal Olho D'Água da Bica, Paraíba’, it is a small area of Caatinga with few studies of its biological diversity. In this study, it's realised the first survey of butterflies (Papilionoidea and Hesperioidea) for the location, through monthly active sampling using entomological net from december 2013 to may 2014. Survey 1039 individuals from 61 species, of all families mentioned in the literature for the group were recorded. Most species found in Horto Florestal it is usually seen in open Caatinga area, however, it was recorded the Papilionidae Parides zacynthus, a specie mentioned in the literature only for the Atlantic Forest and coastal regions. It is likely that the ‘Horto Florestal Olho D'Água da Bica’ plays a role of refuge for many species, so it is essential that this area must be preserved, because as Parides zacynthus, other important species of taxonomic and ecosystem may use this space during dry periods.
