Deliveries these days, happens in hospitals, which has humanized care and rooming-in (AC)
as a basic policy. This study had as general objective evaluate the performance of the nursing
staff in AC, from postpartum women, and specific objectives: to know the role of nursing
staff in rooming in and identify the activities in AC. This is an exploratory study with a
quantitative and qualitative approach, using as subjects 30 postpartum women of the
maternity in Cajazeiras-PB, interviewed in February 2013having as an instrument of data
collection A structured screenplay. The results of sociodemographic and obstetric were
presented in table; qualitative indicators were analyzed in a thematic way traditional
performing in frames. Both descriptively discussed in the light of the theme. Overall the
findings showed women aged adequate to pregnancy, not lived with a steady partner, low
education level, the majority were housewives and farmers, surviving with a minimum salary.
Most of the women were multiparous, and not all showed a number of prenatal visits
satisfactory. Qualitative data revealed that upon arriving at the maternity patients were not
informed about the functioning of the service, as nursing care what else was left to be desired
assistance in childbirth. A positive towards the team was related to the care of newborns and
breastfeeding. This research also showed that psychological and emotional factors influence
the perception of women in thier staff, and good humor, love, affection and attention are
critical to the quality of care.
