Abstract:
The Information System on Live Births became the main reliable source of information on births , using as a standard form Declaration of Live Birth - DN , official document , required in all domestic and skillful for issuance of birth certificates territory. This research aimed to identify socio - demographic and obstetric mothers of newborns from the city of Cajazeiras / PB characteristics . It is a retrospective sectional, descriptive nature, with a quantitative approach that used secondary data on maternal variables obtained through SINASC / Datasus with mothers living in the municipality , from the years 1999 to 2011 . Results revealed as profile sociodemographic 69.0 % were aged 20-34 years and 22.3 % between 10 and 19 years; 54.0 % had 4-11 years of education and 34.1 % had ≤ 3 years of study ; 60.5 % were mothers without partners . Regarding obstetric profile , it was found that 92.6 % had their children to term , 97.7 % possessed only type of pregnancy , 52.9 % had vaginal deliveries , 46.6 % performed their cesarean sections and 56 channels, 3% had fewer than seven prenatal consultations. The presented results show alarming information regarding the variables, education of the mother and type of delivery , since, though not the highest proportion , we found a significant well as mothers with low schooling and a cesarean above what is recommended by the World Health Organization deliveries Therefore , it is expected that this study can contribute to the knowledge of the epidemiological profile of mothers of newborns from the city of Cajazeiras -PB , which will serve the basis for constructing identifiers maternal health , supporting action planning for this specific group of attention , with the goal of reducing the risk of morbidity and mortality.
