The Food and Nutrition Education (FNE) has passed through several stages in Brazil, with regard to its concept and importance, and in order to be applied in the social context. Today, however, it is recognized that food is a current topic and its educational action is extremely important in all areas of activity ( Morin , 2000; SANTOS , 2012) . For FNE meets its purpose, the professional who holds his action as private activity must have training that prepares him to take on the challenges of this practice . However , researches shows the little attention that has been given to the disciplines of humanities sciences in Nutrition course ( COSTA , 1999) and also emphasize that research in Food and Nutrition Education has no tradition in Nutrition field ( BOOG , 2011) . Therefore, this study aimed at learning the teachers' perception of Nutritional Education and Nutrition Course , who teach in higher public and private educational institutions in Paraiba about formation in Food and Nutrition Education . This was a descriptive, cross-sectional survey and qualitative - quantitative approach, where the teachers of the Nutrition Education discipline underwent a semistructured interview and answered a questionnaire, as well as the Nutrition course coordinator answered a questionnaire. Seven institutions that have the Nutrition course in Paraíba, however , five participated in the survey . It was concluded that, despite a breakthrough in the methodology of teaching the Nutrition Education discipline, there are still limitations that can affect the quality of training nutritionists as an educator.
