descriptive, with a quantitative approach, being held in Family Health Units of the
urban area of Cajazeiras-PB. The study population consisted of 10 nurses from FHS
who were exercising their duties during the period of data collection, the sample
consists of 10 professionals. Data were collected in November through a semi-
structured questionnaire and analyzed quantitatively classifying the responses in
categories such as tables. The results indicated that 60% of respondents were aged
between the ages of 25 and 29 years, 70% were married, 50% have between 4 and
6 years of completion of graduation, 40% have between one and six years at
FHS. As for Pap smear, 40% of the participants held their last exam this year and
80% said they take the exam annually. In another 60% reported that the scholarship
has helped to adhere to the examination, in which 60% of respondents take place in
the CCU and to prevent STDs. Still, 50% did not refer to the adherence factors,
however, the participants reported 30% reported lack of time, 10% lack of knowledge
and 10% timidity. Finally, it was realized that most of these proved to be sensitized
and referring any knowledge about the prevention of cancer, although there are
some professionals who do not submit to examination with adequate frequency. Most
of the women recognized the need for Pap tests, with the frequency and conducts
prevention correctly. It is necessary that nurses need to be encouraged and guided
to perceive themselves with important piece to the proper functioning of our health
system, and to that end, the care and attention given to the other shall be equivalent
to the care that they should have with themselves.
