Abstract:
In recent years, there were several changes in the standard of living of the society, especially linked to the consumption of goods and food products. This is an increase of consumption, which, consequently, results in an increased production of organic residues, in the majority of cases are disposed of in landfills. In view of this the aim of our study was to analyze the waste and agricultural residues are the main challenges that were identified in CEASA, Patos, Paraíba. Interviews were carried out with structured, on an exploratory basis during the summer months of july and august/2019. They were considered to be on the search for fruit and vegetable production in the CEASA/Patos: pineapple, lettuce, banana, potato, onion, orange, papaya, mango, watermelon, peppers, cabbage and tomatoes. The questionnaire was standardized and consisted of closed-ended questions relating to the waste from these products. It has been found that, in general, the higher the marketing of agricultural products is concentrated mainly in the months of january, february and march. In the face of the results obtained, it was concluded that the adoption of good practice in the handling, packaging, transportation and marketing of fresh vegetables and fruits will contribute to the reduction of the losses, the wholesaler should be to lose the habit of stacking the goods in layers with very high, because of the overlapping of the layers, resulting in increased incidence of the bends, and, consequently, higher losses; the use of fresh vegetables and fruits, it is a viable proposition to reduce the waste that typically occurs during the rendering process, and is discharged into the environment, and should be done to raise awareness, to enhance consumer education, therefore, a lot of times, the products are still appropriate, are disposed of only at face value.
