Abstract:
We know that the population is aging earlier, and this means that many women will
enter climacteric, leading them to seek health services, thus requiring skilled
professionals and sensitized with caring for this type of people. Climacteric is a
transitional period where women have reduced their production of estrogen,
occurring between 35 and 65 years culminating the end of the menstrual cycle. Most
women show signs and symptoms ranging from mild to very intense, more frequent
heat waves, insomnia, vaginal atrophy, depression and anxiety, which can result in
other problems such as irritability, tachycardia, sweating, fatigue and excessive
worry. Aimed to investigate the main admissions for damages related to climacteric.
This is an exploratory secondary data of a quantitative nature, with descriptive
analysis. The instrument collection is designed to consolidate data available in
Datasus in the years 2008-2012, during the period from 06 to 14 January 2014. For
analysis we used simple descriptive statistics proportion. For that we used the
Microsoft Office Excel spreadsheets. It was found that the most frequent damages
were climacteric depression, reaching women in the age range 40-44 years;
hypertension, occurring in the age range between 60-64 years; and obesity, with only
16 cases, two in 2009, two in 2011 and 12 in 2012. The study also showed that
women of color / race suffering these illnesses are more black / brown, and the least
suffering are indigenous.
