Resumo:
This paper deals with the history of the Prestes Column passage in the
municipality of Piancó-PB. Inserted in the context of the First Republic of Brazil,
the Column was a movement of the lieutenants who in March through Brazil were
led by then lieutenant Luis Carlos Prestes, inciting unease and
riots in the population and causing fear and instability in the authorities.
Mapped in the interior of Paraíba, Piancó-PB was one of the interior cities
tragically struck by the passage of the spine. Tragedy caused by a
a number of factors, including the participation of Father Aristides
Ferreira da Cruz as one of the main victims of the clash. So our
objective was to study the history of the Prestes Column in Paraíba and
specifically focus on this conflicting passage in the city of Piancó-PB.
It is a bibliographical study and discussion in which we will seek to highlight
the aspects that we consider important in the literature and point out relevance
of other aspects of little prominence in historiography, but which in our view
deserves a better presentation. To this end, some authors subsidized us,
among which we cite: (CARONE, 1974), (FERREIRA, 1993), (LEOCADIA,
2007), (CAVALCANTE NETO, 2012) (OTAVIANO, 1979) and (PRESTES, 2007).
Thus, we researched the interface between the history of Paraíba in the early years
of the First Republic and the legacy of the facts that still mark the identity
from Piancó-PB from this event. The interest in working this
