Resumo:
The school plays a key role in the formation of citizens and critical instructs allowing people
capable of transforming society, it also allows the obtaining of multiple skills in various fields
such as paleontology, which is a science of great importance in understanding the bygone life
on earth, his main tool of study are the fossils. Paleontology work in the classroom is essential
to understanding the processes that occur over millions of years on earth. Given its
importance, practical classes were conducted at the State Elementary School and Middle
Rolderick José de Oliveira, in the city of Nova Floresta, Paraíba, Brazil. A pedagogical
practice is extremely important, because they are considered essential in developing skills to
learners. This work aims to encourage the realization of practical classes in 7th year of
elementary school II as a way to improve teaching and learning and facilitate understanding
and assimilation of the content covered becoming thus more interesting and motivating for
students. This work was conducted with thirty-seven 7th graders B of Elementary II, in which
we use pre-test and post-test, for paleontology, to observe the level of knowledge of students.
It was possible to evaluate the efficiency of the applied methodology was based on: books,
documentaries, articles and tutorials by producing replicas of fossils. Was observed after the
completed activities that students were able to respond satisfactorily to the issues related to
the subject matter covered. From the results obtained, there was a positive influence, verifying
the effectiveness of the use of practical classes in the teaching-learning process.
