Resumen:
In this dissertation we discuss the fundamental concepts of braneworlds in which we
detail some models of braneworlds with extra dimensions, more specifically models in 4
+ 1D, such as the Randal-Sundrum one. We also discuss the contruction of thick branes
through a scalar field minimally coupled to gravity, such a field is static and depend only
on the extra dimension. We also study how braneworlds can be obtained in a scenario
involving bimetric theories, where we look more closely at the bimetric sine-Gordon model
proposed in one of our references. Finally we discuss the concept of Configurational
Entropy, where we calculate it for the sine-Gordon Bimetric model.
